To be honest, if I was the head of a CA "mining corp" right now I would be preparing for a revolution. This situation is painfully simplistic from the outside:
The combat corps of the CA are on a permanent tour of the rest of Eve because they cannot fight at home without losing. They are not geared for defense. CA has one tactic in response to invasion and thats counterattack and harry the neighbour's miners to boost their kill figures and justify their existence. We saw it last autumn against the CFS when FA and SA invaded Curse and we have been seeing it ever since.
But the problem is, they aren't doing this to benefit the CA mining and industry corps, they are doing it for their own ego trips and sense of self importance.
CA combat corps like to pick fights and strut their funky stuff against weak industrial targets the rest of Eve over. But this is just vanity and nothing to do with maintaining a strong and dependable realm at home.
So whats happening here is that "slave-miner" corps are being obligated to pay taxes for "combat-corps" to have fun.
And thats it really.
If I was in the CA I would be preparing to fight for my independence and letting these greedy little opportunist begging-bowl combat-corps do their own mining to support their habit of annoying the galaxy with every word they speak.
I really can't abide trumped-up little tyrants that want other people to keep them in ships used for random giggles and meaningless posturing.

Bit sensitive on this issue boys?
Oh and Masochist ... I have spent long nights pondering how I can prevent my life and welfare being obliterated by the mighty CA combat fleets. How indeed I can escape utter humiliation at the hands of the mighty C4 Raven attack squadron.
The answer -
2 MWD AND a nanofibre 1!
I bet your ravens won't catch me then ;)

You're not worth chasing.
Whats the matter? Have your mining slaves lost the nanofibre 1 blueprint?

Well monsieur Stern, since you would like to dance, lets dance ;)
But propaganda and mud-slinging aside lets address some real issues of governance and responsibility non?
My real problem with alliance taxation like this is the separation of combat fleets and resource base. I am very suspicious of these arrangements in general, because they are rife with corruption and potential misuse. Now Sutty makes a good point that if these centrally-funded combatents were actually defending the mining operations they were being supplied by that would be fine perhaps, but in this case the taxed corporations are paying for wars elsewhere that many of them don't want but are too afraid to speak up against and protest.
In effect the Curse Allaince becomes something like an ancient mob-ruled crime cartel where the bravos and fighters are supplied by protection money paid by the owners of bars and brothels and gambling dens. Its a workable model on a small scale but its hardly a revolutionary political system fitted to the exploitation of 0.0 space.
It cuts the other way as well of course: because your miners and industrialists will now likely grow lazier and more cowardly yet because they will feel they have already paid their due and don't have any reason to leave their safe-spots and stations to contest the enemy.
And remember monsieur Stern, I have seen a lot of these arguments from the inside of alliance systems from the NVA foundation to its fall, and I have become convinced that the only sensible way to operated a combined military for a 0.0 power is to encourage self-reliance and a state of citizen-soldiers who can support their comrades as and when required.
Soldiers without responsibility to the government quickly turn into brigands and reavers, and if they are paid without strings this process happens all the faster, but your taxed minions also suffer, for they will be slower to gain confidence and ability in their own right.
But of course it doesn't disappoint me that the Curse Alliance is slipping back into protection racketeering because you chaps are fundimental my nemesis (or something) and as long as CA exists I am KOS and whatever so you can hardly condemn me for not having your best interests at heart.
So by all means squeeze! and SQUEEZE! and Squeeze again!
In the words of an ancient philosopher of pre Eve gate society.

That would be superb! All we'd need then would be some kind of scandal involving cigars and a Dark Empire intern.

Unicor seemed pretty much alive and kicking to me last weekend. They made a decent fleet and kicked over some TPS stations. I think its a "rumours of their demise" moment monsieur CA.

Quote: Did i read something on these boards about you surrendering to someone, if so then why would anyone thinking of or engauging in military operations pay any attention to you. If im mistaken i apologise but i hope im not
I will happily accept your apology DJTheBaron. I've never surrendered to anyone or anything hence far in eve. In fact Halseth had to kick me out of the NVA so he could go on to surrender to people without me interfering with my Hawkish attitudes ;)
